Girls Geared For Greatness

The mission of TDC's Girls Geared for Greatness program is to empower and inspire girls through meaningful and unique training and development opportunities, workshops and seminars. We see a need for discussion and inspiration for girls to realize their potential and the power they have to make a difference beyond the dance floor.

This event is open to any girl in our community ages 8 to 18.

Saturday, April 13

Dr. Jennifer Prezioso- DPM, FACFAS, Entrepreneur, CEO of Balance Foot & Ankle CLE

Tera Sumpter- M.A., CCC-SLP, Founder of Seeds of Learning, LLC

Emma Tuleta- M.A., CCC-SLP, Therapy Director at Seeds of Learning, LLC

The event will include discussion and engaging activities around the following topics:

  • Tools for self-advocacy and boundary-setting.

  • Gaining an understanding of healthy relationships and navigating peer pressure.

  • Increasing self-confidence and dealing with perfectionism.

  • Learning resiliency.

Featured Speakers:

Tera Sumpter

M.A., CCC-SLP, Founder of Seeds of Learning, LLC

Tera Sumpter, M.A., CCC-SLP, is the founder of Seeds of Learning, LLC, a private practice specializing in executive function, reading, and other pediatric learning disabilities. Tera is the author of the internationally best selling book, The Seeds of Learning: A Cognitive Processing Model for Speech, Language, Literacy and Executive Functioning. A former adjunct instructor of Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism in the Cleveland State University's Speech and Hearing Program, Tera currently presents her integrative cognitive processing and executive function model across the United States and internationally. She also runs an international educational network for speech-language pathologists, parents and allied professionals who want to learn more about executive function and how to support its development.  Tera's favorite role is as mom to Emma, Lily and Hannah. Tera is thrilled to present important and relevant topics for girls today, such as self-advocacy, boundary-setting, and healthy relationships. Tera's session will be designed specifically for the 12+ age range at TDC's Girls Geared for Greatness event.

 

Emma Tuleta

M.A., CCC-SLP, Therapy Director at Seeds of Learning, LLC

Emma is a Speech- Language Pathologist at Tera Sumpter's Seeds of Learning clinic who specializes in executive function therapy. While her day-to-day roles include evaluating and treating some of the coolest clients; she is also the Therapy Director and Assistant Clinical Director of the Lakewood office.  Emma loves trying new foods and continues to hunt for the city's greatest latte and calamari (not for the same meal). She enjoys filling her days surrounded by the best professional team, her husband and their two vivacious little girls, and their Great Dane, Eddie. The blend of her professional and personal life has her extremely passionate about the message the Girls Geared for Greatness program spreads. She is honored to be a part of this event and is looking forward to feeling and sharing all the positivity! Emma is thrilled to present important and relevant topics for girls today, such as self-advocacy, boundary-setting, and healthy relationships. Emma's session will be designed specifically for the 8-11 age range at TDC's Girls Geared for Greatness event.

 

Dr. Jennifer Prezioso

DPM, FACFAS, CEO of Balance Foot & Ankle CLE

Dr. Jennifer L. Prezioso is the founder and CEO of Balance Foot & Ankle. As an entrepreneur and surgeon, Dr. Prezioso is passionate about empowering girls of all ages to reach their full potential and is thrilled to lead discussions and activities around resiliency, perfectionism, and self-confidence. By sharing her journey and the tools she learned along the way, Dr. Prezioso hopes to inspire younger generations of girls to gain confidence and learn resiliency in every aspect of their lives. Dr. Prezioso specializes in foot and ankle reconstruction and trauma as well as the conservative management of acute and chronic conditions. She has been providing high quality and compassionate care to patients in the Cleveland area since 2010! In addition to Dr. Prezioso’s devotion to her patients, she is a faculty member at one of the top foot and ankle residency programs in the country and a member of the Global Foot and Ankle Community with efforts to unite foot and ankle physicians and surgeons around the world. She resides in Lakewood with her husband, Mark, and their three children, Scarlet, Winston, and Nigel.

Girls Geared For Greatness is designed to empower and inspire girls ages 8-18 through meaningful and unique training and development opportunities, workshops, and seminars.

  • Founded in 2018 by Chasta Hamilton, Girls Geared For Greatness was created as an action-oriented response to shifting societal trends.

  • TDC recognizes the need to enhance its programming with training opportunities that are inclusive of character development and leadership skills.

  • The program creates conversation around relevant topics that empower girls to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

  • The messaging transcends the dance industry, and it is the intent of the organization to make sure all girls, parents, teachers, and stakeholders are able to benefit from the conversations and programming.

It's not just for dancers!
